FIELD GUIDE vol 1
I am thrilled to be releasing my new improvisational solo piano work FIELD GUIDE vol 1 on the music label TNT GOOVE INTERNATIONAL !! As of September 17, 2020 now available for digital downloads and streaming on all the usual places. I was particularly excited to work with an amazing sound engineer on this, Andy Bowenkamp. Connecting over the fact that we are both two “heavily displaced” (she says with a smirk) Minnesotans from the music scene there and a lot of Twin Cities memories. I am honored to be working with a sound engineer who has such a fantastic background in music, a wonderful approach to recording, and from the same hometown as myself. His approach to my work on this solo piano release certainly has paved the way for future experimentation! I think we have just touched the tip of the iceberg on all the possibilities available to us with future piano projects. The idea to take the acoustic piano combined with electronic effects has the potential to take the concept of piano composition into new spatial possibilities. I whole heartily will be jumping on that wagon in the future with Andy! FIELD GUIDE vol 2 will be also released on TNT GROOVE INTERNATIONAL in the near future. Thank you to Tim Conwell, master bass player, producer, and label “godfather” extraordinaire from TNTGI for all his hard work and belief in this project and Alchymie’s work. I know Tim is working also on a few exciting promotional events that will include Alchymie; Wonderful! We will keep you posted.
And just what field is all this coming from? 2020 has certainly been one for the books and we are all experiencing serious transformations on all levels, in different capacities of life, and in both a collective and individual way. For myself, at some point during the lockdowns of COVID-19 here where I live, the world stopped. Things suddenly took on slow motion, and without the many distractions I could find for myself usually, everything looked different. ( Yes, streaming TV was still there-for better and for worse.) Unfortunately, lockdowns are not always a peaceful “go-within” moment for others. I’m so grateful that TNTGI will include FIELD GUIDE vol 1 and 2 and Alchymie in their efforts to offer help and aid within communities for those affected by domestic violence, chemical addiction, and others affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in many ways.
Nature has an inherent way of correcting itself, finding a place for everything ,and aligning all within it. I believe that through transformation we, as a collective and individually, can do the same.
“Perhaps a good way through these times is to look for a field guide. Look to the natural world, our own gardens, and the fields that surround us. We can slow down, begin to see and feel differently; find our true place within it all.”
